As the 2017 eclipse approached, I was really excited. I had never seen a total solar eclipse in my life. A few partial solar eclipses, and a handful of lunar eclipses, which are frankly, unremarkable.

I was a big time Delta frequent flyer back then and I messed around on flight aware and photoshop and discovered that the August 21st flight 2466 would follow the eclipse path. I posted my findings on instagram and was  contacted by a Delta representative and told that they would be saving me a seat on the flight. I was contacted by some newspapers. It’s the only thing i’ve ever done, or am likely to do, that went viral. But at the last minute, I was called to go on a trip to Eritrea and missed the eclipse completely.
